our philosophy...
Sometimes what we are not, says as much about us as what we are. Charles Dickens Photography Studios is not your typical mall studio or large church directory photography company. We create custom heirloom portraits that are hand retouched and artfully enhanced to make you look your absolute best. Whether photographing a bride, high school senior, baby or family session, we stop and take the time to get to know you on a personal level so that we can capture the essence of you, your child, or your family's personality and create the most precious artwork you will ever own! We have become close friends with many of our clients over the years, which I feel is a testament to how we approach photography and treat our clients. We have been blessed with the opportunity to capture some of the most important moments in our client's lives through our photography. That is what keeps us motivated and passionate about our craft!
about the photographer...
Charlie has a love and a passion for photography that began over twenty years ago with his first Pentax 35mm SLR film camera. Whether he's photographing a wedding or creating unique portraits that capture and reflect the personality of his subjects, he simply loves photographing people and it shows.
Over the past fifteen years Charlie has photographed weddings from Charleston, SC to the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC, ranging from small intimate beach services to formal 500 guest Greek Orthodox weddings. Charlie draws from this range of experience coupled with training and education through the Professional Photographers of NC and the Professional Photographers of America to uniquely capture and communicate the emotion of the wedding story through his photographs.
Aside from wedding and portrait work, Charlie has been commissioned for aerial and commercial photography as well as executive portraits and corporate events (including gubernatorial appearances). Charlie also enjoys international travel and has a growing collection of fine art images he photographed in Italy and other parts of Europe, as well as right here in North Carolina. Charlie has won numerous awards and competitions, with his images, and been recognized through the different professional organizations that he belongs to.
Charlie is also a degreed engineer and Raleigh native who married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth. After college and living on the NC coast for several years, they are now back in their hometown of Raleigh again, raising their two daughters - Georgia and Makenzie.
