We’re going with “rustically casual” to describe this look. Not sure if that’s a real term, but I like it and the client loved the images, so that’s all that counts, right?
This was a fun but bitter sweet shoot for us, because this was the last of the Morgan children. We’ve had the honor and pleasure of photographing senior portraits for 3 out of 4 (missed the oldest) of the family’s children in their senior year of high school, and it’s been so much fun seeing them all grow through the years and move on to the next stages in life.
This senior portrait session was photographed in December, believe it or not. We have a great little rustic fence that used to be part of a horse pasture, and the quality and direction of the late afternoon sunlight, along with the evergreen pines, make it perfect for outdoor portraits year round.

A few images from a recent senior session we photographed right here outside at the studio. Jessie was great to work with and we created some great images to take the place of the “big box studio” images she didn’t like from school. We love creating unique custom sessions for our seniors so they don’t look like everyone else’s photos at school.
A few images from a recent senior portrait session that we photographed right here outside the studio. With this senior, I wasn’t able to meet ahead of time for the design consultation and get to know him a little like we typically do, so I made sure to spend enough time up front at the session to build some raport. When mom saw the images, here is what she had to say:
“The pictures are awesome! Some of the best he has ever had taken! I think the time you took to talk to him and make him comfortable made a big difference.”
I think one of the key ingredients that enables us to capture the personality of our subjects so well is taking that time to get to know them and help them feel comfortable in front of the camera. I love photographing seniors because it’s such a unique milestone in life and we want our clients to enjoy reflecting back on this time in life via the professional portraits and wall art that we provide. Can’t wait to see mom’s reaction when we deliver David’s custom framed wall portrait!
We love photographing the seniors! Such a fun and special time in life. Closing one chapter, opening another, it’s one of life’s major milestones, which is why we think it’s so important to have it captured professionally, and why we love these sessions.
As with most guys, Will wasn’t exactly jumping up and down at first about having portraits made, but as the session unfolded it was fun to watch him really having fun and even suggesting some shots. We always try to make senior sessions fun and all about the senior. If they’re having fun, it allows us to capture their true personality in images that reflect who they really are at this milestone in their life.
